East
Africa
The
infrastructure for safaris in Kenya and Tanzania is well established
with a selection of accommodations ranging from moderate to deluxe.
The parks and game reserves most often visited in Kenya include
the Masai Mara, Samburu, Amboseli, Lakes Nakuru and Naivasha in
the Rift Valley. In the Aberdare Highlands on the Equator one can
stay at famous "tree" lodges, or at the Mount Kenya Safari Club
located nearby. The primary parks visited in Tanzania are the Serengeti,
Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, and perhaps Mt Kilimanjaro.
In Uganda there are several parks, but the principal interest for
visitors is to trek into the highlands to see a family group of
mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

quality arrangements, based on at least two individuals traveling
together. Visit the major game parks and reserves of East Africa,
and includes several flights in-country to reduce the time and rigors
of travel by road. This itinerary offers game drives and wildlife

the Mount Kenya Safari Club, and Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo in

Mountain
Gorillas of Uganda
Mountain
Gorillas of Uganda a 6-day trek into an extremely remote area. Lack
of tourist infrastructure and the mountain trekking makes this itinerary
appropriate only for the hardy adventurous traveler. This option
if for those physically fit and able to trek for hours in hope of
seeing the illusive mountain gorillas in the forests of Uganda.
Permits for treks into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest are very limited
and the operator cannot guarantee success in sighting the gorillas
on the days of your trek into the protected area. The park entry
and permit fees (purchased in advance) are non-refundable. The food
and accommodations used on this special program are not considered
to be up to the levels of what is offered elsewhere in East Africa.
Climb
Mt. Kilimanjaro
Climb
Mt. Kilimanjaro a choice of 7 or 8 day optional programs in Tanzania.
This is an ultimate option for those on going on safari in East
Africa. All participants must be in good physical condition for
either of these non-technical hikes up the mountain and should check
with their personal physician prior to making arrangements for this
program. All participants must provide their own sleeping bags for
both climbing routes. Porters are provided to carry the bags and
some personal gear. Meals provided during the climbs are very basic.
The Marangu Route, which is used by most visitors, takes 7 days
and uses huts which can be considered only as very basic accommodation.
The steeper and more scenic Machame Route at 8 days is longer and
uses two person tents during the climb. This allows the climbers
more time to acclimate to the altitude.
