Highlights
of China is designed for holiday travelers as an excellent way to
see the highlights of the Middle Kingdom's major travel centers
on a comfortable itinerary of just twelve days.

1: USA or Canada - Shanghai, China
Our
journey begins as we board our flight to Shanghai.
Day
2: Shanghai
On
arrival in Shanghai, we are met and escorted to our elegant hotel.

We
spend the day exploring Shanghai: the Bund is still faced with stately
European buildings, and the old Chinese quarter shows us another
of Shanghai's many faces. We also visit the Shanghai Museum and
(today or tomorrow) attend a performance of acrobatic prowess.

4: Shanghai - Suzhou - Shanghai
Today
we travel to Suzhou to wander among famous formal gardens, designed
by great artists, and explore the old district.

5: Shanghai - Guilin
This
afternoon, we board a flight for Guilin where we are met on arrival
and escorted to our hotel.

6: Guilin
A relaxing
half-day cruise on the Li River ends at the charming village of
Yangshuo. Returning overland to Guilin, our sightseeing also includes
a visit to scenic Fubo Hill and a look at traditional cormorant
fishing by night.

7: Guilin - Xian
Today
we fly to Xian, capital of Shaanxi province. On arrival, we are
met and transferred to our hotel.

8: Xian
Xian
is world-famous as the site of Qin dynasty Emperor Qin Shihuangdi's
tomb complex, with its resident army of amazingly detailed, life-size
terra-cotta soldiers. Other highlights include a visit to the magnificent
City Gate and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

9: Xian - Beijing
After
a morning at the New Shaanxi Museum, we board our flight to Beijing,
capital of the People's Republic of China. This afternoon we explore
historic Tiananmen Square, the world's largest public plaza.

10-11: Beijing
We
have two days to explore a fascinating city that has enchanted the
imaginations of visitors for centuries. Our visits include the magnificent
Forbidden City and the exquisite Temple of Heaven, one of the world's
most beautiful structures. We may also enjoy a performance of Chinese
opera or ballet. The Great Wall, just outside the capital, is another
highlight of our stay in Beijing. On the last evening we enjoy a
farewell dinner at the exclusive China Club.

12: Beijing - USA or Canada
Today
we are transferred to Beijing's Capital Airport for our flight home
to the USA or Canada, or on to another destination in the Orient.

you are transferred to Beijing's Capital Airport for your flight
to Hong Kong. On arrival in Hong Kong, you will be met and transferred
to your hotel.

13-14: Hong Kong
Enjoy
two full days in Hong Kong. We recommend a drive to the quaint fishing
village of Aberdeen, Stanley Market, or a tram ride to Victoria
Peak. Hong Kong has something of interest for every visitor: shopping,
watching the early morning tai chi chuan exercises in Victoria Park,
having fortunes told, riding the subway, lighting incense at a temple,
or browsing in museums and art galleries.

Today
you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home or on
to another destination in the Orient. B
