Did
You Know?
Hawaiian culture includes the influences of China, the Philippines,
Korea, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Thailand and Vietnam. This
means that when visiting Hawaii, you will encounter many exotic
sounding foods, names and terms.
The Big Island, Kona, is Hawaii's largest, twice the size of the
other Hawaiian Islands combined. The island is home to Mauna Kea,
the tallest mountain in the world when measured from its base beneath
the Pacific to its peak - 33,476 feet
Pearl Harbor, on Oahu, is one of the most visited historical attractions
in the world, not to mention one of the most emotional. To this
day, drops of oil still bubble to the water’s surface from
the wreckage below the sea. Interestingly, Pearl Harbor is also
one of the most visited destinations by Japanese tourists. The Visitor’s
Center and USS Arizona Memorial are both free of charge.
