Did You Know?
The currency in the Bahamas is the Bahamian dollar (B$1),
which is equivalent in value to the US dollar. Both U.S. and
Bahamian dollars are accepted throughout the island, as are
US dollar travelers checks and most major credit cards.
There are many forms of ground transportation including
car, bicycle and scooter rentals (driving is on the left hand
side of the road). Taxis are available, as well as horse-drawn
surreys for sightseeing. Ferry service is available for inter-island
transportation.
Bay Street, the International Bazaar, and the Nassau Straw
Market are excellent shopping locations.

Pink Sands
"Lets get away, far away..."

Pink Sands is a 20-acre designer retreat on the famous rosy beaches
of Harbour Island (Bahamas). The island, known to locals as Briland,
is a tiny oceanic punctuation mark dotting the 110 mile stretch
of Eluethera Island. Its diminutive size affords the Pink Sands
hotel seclusion from the bustle of larger islands. While the property
may be a secluded paradise sheltered by sea and foliage, the accommodations
it provides distinguished guests are by no means austere.
The resort's art deco stylings were conceived by the glamorous
aesthetic mind of Barbara Hulanicki, founder of the avant-garde
Biba fashion line, which influenced rock 'n' rollers such as Mick
Jagger and Steven Tyler. Hulanicki brushed her sinuous flair into
each room, cottage and bungalow of the Pink Sands.
From the lobby's Balinese furnishings set against pinkish-hued sandy
walls, to the pastel-colored cottages and ocean-breezy suites, accommodations
at Pink Sands cease being rooms, instead becoming superbly orchestrated
settings.
The resort boasts fine tennis courts, including one lit for night
play. Guests may make complimentary use of kayaks, snorkeling gear,
and boogie boards for on-beach recreation. The hotel's bar features
pool tables in a relaxed, classy environ of swanky Indian accents
also designed by Barbara Hulanicki. The hotel's restaurant serves
entr?es such as mahi mahi and saut?ed grouper in its seaside setting.
The Blue Bar is located above seagrape-covered beach dunes by the
shore. It does well to live up to its name, sporting entirely blue
decor, from barstools to salt shakers. The Pink Sands Hotel, in
its chic designer d?cor and location upon rosy sands, permits its
guests to a Caribbean retreat in style.
